Paying for an item

• Use PayPal Goods & Services.It includes purchase protection, so you can open a claim if an item never arrives or isn't as described.
• Neverpay by Zelle, Venmo, Cash App, wire transfer, gift cards, or PayPal “Friends & Family” — those offer no protection at all.
• Don't close a PayPal dispute until you have a full refund or the item as described.

Talking to buyers and sellers

• Keep all conversation in Voltage messages — it's your record if anything goes wrong.
• Someone pushing to move to text, email, or another app is a red flag.
• Ask for fresh photos with a handwritten note showing the seller's username and today's date. Screenshot the listing and photos before you pay.

Meeting in person

• Meet in a public place; a local bike shop is ideal — they can inspect the bike too.
• Check the frame for cracks and dents before money changes hands.
• For e-bikes: verify the battery charges, and ask for the original purchase receipt.
